Points of Focus

  • Anthropic’s Claude is now the top AI coding tool for crypto devs, even beating internal AI tools at Meta and Microsoft.
  • Claude’s smart contract auditing and vulnerability discovery abilities are driving rapid adoption across blockchain development.
  • Surging enterprise adoption and revenue growth are solidifying Claude’s leadership in professional and crypto-focused AI coding.

Anthropic’s Claude has emerged as the leading AI coding assistant for blockchain developers, marking a significant industry pivot where even engineers at Meta and Microsoft are increasingly opting for Claude over their own companies’ proprietary AI tools.

This trend is visible across the entire technical landscape. A Blind survey involving 1215 verified U.S.-based tech professionals, conducted between December 16 and 17, 2025, revealed that 31% now utilize Claude as their primary AI model for work. The internal shift is particularly stark at Meta; 50% of surveyed Meta employees reported using Claude as their primary tool, while a mere 8% chose Meta AI. Microsoft engineers showed a similar inclination, with 34% selecting Claude, narrowly beating out Microsoft’s own Copilot at 32%.

Most participants identified as software engineers who rely on AI for system design, debugging, and writing code, suggesting a growing internal preference for high-performance technical tools over corporate-mandated products.

Smart contract auditing drives blockchain adoption

The rapid integration of Claude into the cryptocurrency sector is closely tied to its proficiency in handling security-sensitive code. On December 1, 2025, Anthropic released its SCONE-bench study, which evaluated AI models against 405 smart contracts containing real-world vulnerabilities exploited between 2020 and 2025. The results were striking: Claude Opus 4.5, Claude Sonnet 4.5, and GPT-5 managed to develop exploits worth $4.6 million in simulated funds on contracts that were deployed after the models’ respective knowledge cutoffs.

Furthermore, these AI agents identified two entirely new zero-day vulnerabilities in live contracts, proving that autonomous security auditing has reached a state of economic viability. This is critical for a sector that saw billions of dollars drained from protocols via smart contract exploits throughout 2024 and 2025.

Developer infrastructure is already adapting to this preference. The Flow blockchain portal now features official Claude Code documentation, providing developers with specific instructions for building in the Cadence smart contract language. Additionally, the Model Context Protocol ecosystem has expanded to include specialized tools for Ethereum wallet analysis, multi-chain DeFi operations, and interactions with the Bitcoin and Lightning Networks. According to a developer activity analysis from CoinLaw, the adoption of AI-driven tools for smart contract scaffolding and vulnerability detection surged by 85% during 2025.

Claude’s high “workflow stickiness” and its ability to manage intricate logic make it a formidable force in the 2026 coding environment. The Stack Overflow 2025 Developer Survey, published on December 29, 2025, showed that 45% of professional developers are using Claude Sonnet models, compared to 30% of learners, indicating a strong preference in specialized sectors like blockchain. Internal data from Anthropic in December 2025 further noted that engineers now rely on Claude for 60% of their daily tasks, improving productivity by 50% through the model’s ability to handle up to 20 consecutive actions during complex debugging.

Commercial momentum compounds tech lead

The technical success of Claude has translated into massive commercial growth. Claude Code hit $1 billion in annualized revenue within just 6 months of its general availability launch in May 2025. Anthropic’s enterprise roster now includes major names such as Netflix, KPMG, Spotify, and Salesforce.

This success stems from a calculated strategy. A December 2025 consumer AI report from Andreessen Horowitz noted that Anthropic has specifically targeted “prosumer” users, particularly software engineers, rather than focusing on the mass-market dominance sought by ChatGPT.

Stripe also selected Anthropic as a design partner for Tempo, its blockchain initiative focused on high-volume stablecoin processing, alongside partners like OpenAI, Visa, Shopify, and Deutsche Bank. This September 2025 announcement solidified Claude’s role in the future of financial infrastructure. Lastly, Menlo Ventures’ 2025 enterprise report highlighted that Anthropic has maintained a nearly 18-month lead on LLM coding leaderboards since the release of Sonnet 3.5 in June 2024. Even with the November 2025 launch of Google’s Gemini 3 Pro, benchmarks indicate it still trails Claude on SWE-bench Verified, the industry’s primary code generation benchmark.
