Only 9% of Solana’s $3B RWA Market Reaches DeFi

Points of Focus

  • Solana’s tokenized RWA market crossed $3 billion for the first time in Q2 2026.
  • Around 9% of tokenized RWA value is used as DeFi trading liquidity or loan collateral.
  • The share reaches roughly 16% after excluding non-circulating issuer reserves, with some tokenized equities already above 30%.

Solana’s real-world asset (RWA) market crossed $3 billion in Q2, with only a small share of that value reaching the network’s lending and trading markets.

Galaxy Research said in its Aug. 10 Solana report that around 9% of tokenized RWA value was deployed in decentralized finance (DeFi) as trading liquidity or loan collateral. The figure rises to roughly 16% after excluding non-circulating issuer reserves.

Solana is adding tokenized assets faster than those assets are entering lending, collateral, and trading markets. The network has continued attracting products ranging from BlackRock-linked tokenized cash funds to commodity finance and other RWAs. RWA.xyz showed $3.89 billion in distributed asset value on Solana as of Aug. 12, up 11.3% over 30 days.

Most RWA value remains outside DeFi

Galaxy cited a 21Shares custody analysis showing that issuer reserves and personal wallets accounted for more than three quarters of Solana’s tokenized RWA value.

Removing issuer reserves gives a clearer picture of assets available to circulate. On that basis, around 84% of circulating RWA value still sits outside DeFi liquidity and collateral positions.

That leaves much of Solana’s tokenized asset base with limited onchain financial activity. Assets held in wallets can increase total RWA value without contributing much borrowing demand, secondary-market liquidity, or transaction volume.

The gap also changes how headline RWA growth should be read. A rising tokenized asset balance can show demand for issuance and settlement on Solana, while the amount deployed across DeFi gives a separate measure of how deeply those assets are being used inside the network’s financial system.

Tokenized stocks show higher DeFi usage

Public equities became Solana’s largest RWA category during Q2, overtaking private credit, according to Galaxy. Several tokenized stocks also show much higher deployment rates than the broader market.

QQQx, NVDAx, SPCX, and COINx each had between the mid-teens and more than 30% of circulating supply deployed in DeFi. Jupiter Lend and Kamino together accounted for roughly 83% of tokenized-stock collateral.

Kamino has also expanded into tokenized private credit and commodity finance. Its recently launched commodity trade finance vault targets a 7%-8% USDC yield. Galaxy also reported more than $17 million of Superstate assets, including tokenized Galaxy shares, available as borrowable collateral.

The assets seeing the most DeFi use already have borrow markets, pricing infrastructure, secondary liquidity, and direct protocol integrations. Their higher deployment rates give Solana an early indication of what could move more of its RWA supply into active financial use.

Solana’s next RWA growth phase will depend on how much of its tokenized supply reaches lending, collateral, margin, and trading markets. Galaxy reported a roughly 44% quarter-on-quarter decline in Solana network fees during Q2, alongside a 31% drop in application fees to $552 million as memecoin activity cooled.

More RWA activity may add a steadier source of borrowing, trading, and transaction demand across the network.
