Points of Focus

  • Solana processed more than 1.5 million agentic payments on Aug. 24, a daily record in Token Terminal data.
  • BlockRun settled 5.4 million Solana payments through PayAI over seven days.
  • Base still leads in 30-day x402 transfer value at $889,300 versus Solana’s $163,700.

Solana moved ahead of Base in Token Terminal’s latest daily agentic-payments ranking after processing more than 1.5 million payments on Aug. 24, the network’s highest single-day count in the data set.

Everstake reported the crossover on Aug. 27 as Solana’s share of daily activity climbed over the previous two weeks. The shift puts Solana ahead by payment count in the latest reading, but Base continues to move substantially more value through x402.

Solana agentic payments hit 1.5 million daily record

The transactions use x402, an open payment standard built around the HTTP 402 “Payment Required” status code. It allows software clients to receive payment terms, make a payment, and retry an API or service request without a manual checkout process.

Coinbase created x402 and completed its contribution of the protocol to the Linux Foundation-governed x402 Foundation in July. The standard supports payments across networks, including Solana and Base, while its documentation lays out the request, payment, and settlement process used by automated clients.

One source of Solana’s recent growth is visible in BlockRun activity. PayAI said BlockRun settled 5.4 million agentic payments on Solana through its facilitator over seven days, representing more than $60,000 in payments. The company reported an average settlement time of 714 milliseconds and peak throughput of 46 settlements per second.

The figures show sustained application-level usage rather than a one-day spike. They don’t show how widely that activity is spread across independent applications. Active services and repeat users would provide a clearer measure of broader adoption.

Base still leads Solana in x402 transfer value

Solana’s lead by payment count hasn’t carried over to value transferred. Token Terminal data showed AI agent-initiated x402 payments generated $1.5 million in transfer volume over the latest 30-day period. Base accounted for $889,300, compared with $163,700 on Solana. Algorand recorded $242,900 and Polygon $166,600.

Base, therefore, handled about 5.4 times as much x402 value as Solana over the period. A network can lead in transaction count while moving less money if its average payment size is smaller, which makes transaction value an important counterpoint to Solana’s daily record.

Chainalysis found another reason to treat raw payment counts cautiously. Earlier x402 growth on Base was boosted by memecoin farming, including PING’s pay-to-mint activity, before transaction growth moderated in early 2026.

Over the latest 30-day Token Terminal window, Base processed $889,300 in x402 transfer value against Solana’s $163,700.
