Points of Focus
- MoneyGram Ramps provides Solana apps with USDC cash access through one API.
- Cash-in spans 25+ countries, while cash-out reaches 170+ markets.
- Rift is the first disclosed Solana wallet using Ramps, with wider adoption still unproven.
MoneyGram expanded its Solana presence on Aug. 11 by bringing MoneyGram Ramps to the network, giving wallets, exchanges, and apps access to its cash infrastructure through a single API. The move extends MoneyGram’s role beyond validator participation into user-facing payments, connecting Solana applications to a retail network Solana puts at nearly 500,000 locations worldwide.

MoneyGram Ramps brings Solana apps to cash rails
The API supports cash deposits in more than 25 countries and cash withdrawals in over 170 countries and territories. MoneyGram’s developer documentation, updated after the announcement, now tells builders they can add USDC (USDC) cash-in and cash-out on either Solana or Stellar through the same Ramps infrastructure. MoneyGram handles identity checks, compliance, and stablecoin settlement, removing the need for each app to assemble separate banking connections.
That setup matters for apps serving users who still need physical cash. A Solana wallet can support a stablecoin payout and let a recipient collect local currency at a participating MoneyGram location. MoneyGram also supports cash-to-USDC deposits at select locations, giving developers access to both cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash flows.
MoneyGram’s retail reach comes with coverage limits
The retail-network figure is broader than the Ramps product footprint. MoneyGram said Ramps cash-out reaches 170+ countries, but cash-in covers only 25+ countries. Its US Ramps page also excludes Alaska, Louisiana, Hawaii, and New York. Bank, mobile wallet, and card withdrawals remain marked “coming soon.”
MoneyGram’s published cash-in coverage has also changed. When MoneyGram introduced Ramps in May 2025, it advertised deposits in more than 30 countries, compared with 25 in the new Solana announcement. MoneyGram doesn’t explain the difference in its Aug. 11 release.
MoneyGram’s Solana push started earlier. It became an active Solana validator and joined the Solana Developer Platform on June 22, 2026. Its Aug. 11 announcement names Rift as the first Solana wallet to add Ramps, with no other live Solana wallet integrations announced so far.
