Points of Focus
- Gemini Titan certified new NFL total-points contracts covering full games and individual periods on Aug. 28.
- Initial markets include Patriots-Seahawks over 44.5 total points and Cowboys-Giants first-quarter total over 10.5.
- Gemini Predictions has surpassed 225 million event contracts traded, with more than 27,000 cumulative prediction traders as of July 31.
Gemini is expanding its National Football League prediction markets with contracts tied to total points scored across full games and individual periods, following filings from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) published Aug. 28. The filings cover two reusable contract templates and two initial NFL markets on Gemini Titan, the company’s CFTC-regulated designated contract market.
One contract asks whether the New England Patriots-Seattle Seahawks game on Sept. 9 will finish above 44.5 total points. Another covers whether the first quarter of the Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants game on Sept. 13 will exceed 10.5 points. The CFTC lists both as certified binary-option event contracts.
Gemini expands its sports offering
The contracts deepen Gemini’s push into sports prediction markets ahead of the NFL season. Gemini Predictions launched in December 2025 after Gemini Titan received its CFTC Designated Contract Market license, with sports contracts following in January for the College Football Playoff and NFL Wild Card games. Polymarket US has been testing multi-leg sports contracts, processing $7.4 million across 16,173 parlay trades.
The expansion comes amid closer regulatory scrutiny of sportsbook-style product design. The CFTC has raised concerns over prediction platforms displaying “moneyline” odds, with regulators examining whether the format could confuse users about the economics of event contracts.
The legal treatment of sports contracts remains unsettled. A New York federal court rejected Kalshi’s request to block state enforcement in July, while CFTC Chair Mike Selig has argued that event contracts fall within federal derivatives jurisdiction.
Gemini Predictions tops 225 million contracts
Gemini’s prediction business has grown quickly since launch. Its Q2 earnings release showed cumulative contracts traded above 225 million, with event contracts traded up 93% quarter-on-quarter. Gemini’s Q2 earnings presentation put cumulative prediction traders above 27,000 as of July 31 and showed that the company had tripled its number of contracted market makers since the end of the first quarter.
Distribution is expanding as well. On Aug. 24, Gemini and Apex Fintech Solutions signed a letter of intent that would make Gemini Titan the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts distributed through Apex’s futures commission merchant to brokerage customers. The proposed arrangement also allows the companies to collaborate on sports, economic, and financial-market contracts on a non-exclusive basis.
The NFL filings add full-game and quarter totals to Gemini’s sports lineup days before the season begins, as regulated prediction-market venues continue expanding their contract menus and distribution.
