The high-performance Ethereum Layer 2 went live on its public mainnet on February 9, 2026. As we reported in January 2026, the launch brings what the team calls “real-time Ethereum”, an EVM compatible chain optimized for ultra-low latency applications including next generation DeFi, fully on-chain games, and high frequency trading.
Introducing The Rabbithole — your MegaETH ecosystem frontend
Mainnet is now fully open to the public.
Rabbithole is how users:
→ Discover live and upcoming apps
→ Bridge and swap assets
→ Get notified of ecosystem events

The launch was done via The Rabbithole, a dedicated ecosystem portal designed to simplify onboarding, app discovery, and user navigation across the MegaETH network.
MegaETH arrived with immediate support for a strong lineup of existing EVM-native protocols. Deployments include Aave (lending), Across (bridging), LI.FI (cross-chain aggregation), OpenSea (NFT marketplace), Rabby (wallet), and Rainbow (wallet), among others. The full list of integrated apps is available on the official announcement.
Several projects built specifically for MegaETH went live alongside the mainnet. Highlights include Avon for the on-chain credit market, Kumbaya for DEX + token launchpad, and Prism as the all-in-one DeFi app.

The Rabbithole portal also lists a robust “Coming Soon” lineup, featuring Aqua (yield aggregator), Baseline Markets (DEX), Brix (emerging markets DeFi), Clutch Predictions (livestreaming predictions), Dorado (gambling games), Euphoria (tap trading), GMX (perps protocol), Mesh (payments network), Nullmask (private transactions), Premarket (pre-market options), Rocket (opinion markets), Sirio (capital governance protocol), and Strip (yield tokenization).
MegaETH’s mainnet launch is a clear demonstration of the “barbell” L2 strategy, designed to leave Ethereum L1 as the secure, neutral settlement foundation. While specialized L2s like MegaETH push the boundaries for apps that need extreme speed and low latency. This is coming at a time when Vitalik Buterin has called for a rethink of the Ethereum L2 role.
MegaETH is fundamentally more interesting than many crypto enthusiasts wanted. Myself included.
I once believed in the web3 vision. rabbits. I still do.
MegaETH is the real-time blockchain. Will reshape finance and much more than that (having fun is the other notable area)… https://t.co/cWuXBBbEj5

The aim of the millisecond block times is to unlock real-time on-chain experiences, fully on-chain games with no lag, instant DeFi trades, and high-frequency trading that feels close to centralized platforms.
Day-one integrations with protocols like Aave, OpenSea, and Rainbow provide immediate utility for users, and the Rabbithole portal makes discovery and onboarding straightforward. The strong lineup of upcoming native apps is a sign that developer interest is building.
Very excited. Very nervous.
Today is the first day of the rest of time.
Reminder that not all apps will be live today, but we have sections so people can stay informed for when that happens.
Enjoy (and bookmark) Rabbithole. It's your home now. https://t.co/0iv37yiYlJ

Community reaction to the launch has been of excitement and nervousness. The recurring question on the lips of many is, can MegaETH sustain over 100,000 TPS in the real world, preserve decentralization, and help these apps attract and retain users while delivering genuine value?
If it succeeds, MegaETH will stand as a powerful example of how far Ethereum’s ecosystem can scale without sacrificing L1’s core security guarantees. This one is worth following closely.
