Point of Focus
- Zcash reportedly recorded 62,812 private transactions last week.
- ZEC’s reported 164% monthly rally drove much of the privacy sector’s broader gains.
- Sustained activity would strengthen the adoption case.
Zcash recorded 62,812 private transactions last week, its highest weekly total in more than four years, according to Messari data.
The increase adds an onchain activity signal to the privacy narrative surrounding Zcash (ZEC), which has also posted sharp price gains.
However, differing definitions of private transactions complicate comparisons, while Zcash’s outsized market share makes broader claims about a privacy-sector boom harder to assess.
Shielded activity reaches multiyear high
The weekly tally averages approximately 8,973 transactions per day, highlighting increased activity involving Zcash’s privacy features.
Zcash uses zero-knowledge proofs to verify transactions without publicly revealing protected payment details. However, the network also supports transparent transactions, meaning privacy is not a universal feature of every transfer.
Zcash's shielded pool just printed its highest weekly count in over four years and the fourth-highest on record.
Last week: 62,812 private transactions.
The only weeks that have cleared more are the three from the summer-2022 blow-off:

That distinction matters when interpreting the latest figures. Fully shielded transfers differ from transactions moving funds into or out of shielded pools, which can expose information on their transparent side.
The supplied report does not explain precisely which transaction categories comprise the 62,812 total. Consequently, the figure should not automatically be interpreted as a count of fully private payments between separate users.
Higher transaction activity also does not establish how many new people joined the network or how much economic value changed hands.
ZEC rally drives privacy-sector attention
The activity milestone follows a substantial market rally. 24/7 Wall St placed ZEC at $1,505, up 164% from its Aug. 20 close of $569.
Glassnode figures show a roughly 90% monthly gain across privacy coins, with Zcash accounting for approximately 62% of the sector’s market capitalization.
Privacy's up 213% since Bitcoin's Oct 2025 high, while every other sector's still down 27-74% over the same window.

Easy assumption would be ZEC pumped and dragged the sector with it.

That concentration suggests ZEC’s performance drove much of the headline sector advance. It does not necessarily indicate equally strong demand across competing privacy assets.
Meanwhile, rising token prices and growing network usage measure different developments. Their coincidence strengthens interest in Zcash but does not demonstrate that private payments caused the rally.
Transaction definitions remain central
A separate analysis on Reddit citing Zecstats argued that fully private transfers represented around 20% of Zcash transactions across a March-to-September window, averaging 1,800 daily.
Those figures cover a different period and potentially a narrower category than the latest weekly tally, so they do not directly invalidate it.

The next test is whether elevated shielded activity persists and whether consistent data shows broader participation.
For now, the reported milestone supports renewed interest in Zcash’s privacy functionality, while leaving adoption claims open to scrutiny.
