Robinhood is expanding its agentic trading platform to cryptocurrency after attracting more than 70,000 beta accounts for equities and options, bringing AI-powered trading to the 24-hour cryptocurrency market. The upcoming feature will allow eligible US customers to connect third-party AI agents that can execute crypto trades within predefined rules, adding another component to Robinhood’s broader AI and blockchain strategy.
The company announced that customers will be able to authorize AI agents through Robinhood’s Model Context Protocol infrastructure while keeping trading activity inside a dedicated account rather than their primary portfolio. Robinhood hasn’t confirmed a public launch date for the crypto feature.
Crypto is coming to agentic trading.
Eligible US customers will soon be able to connect their AI agent to a dedicated Robinhood account to trade crypto on their behalf, with the same real-time P&L tracking and push notifications they already know from agentic trading. More soon.… pic.twitter.com/b3p1nZeZ8Y

Robinhood introduced Agentic Trading in beta on May 27, allowing AI models from providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and xAI to connect with brokerage accounts created specifically for automated trading. Users define portfolio rules, spending limits, and other guardrails before an AI agent can place orders on their behalf.
According to Robinhood, more than 70,000 customers have already opened agentic trading accounts, giving the company an early indication of retail demand before expanding the product to cryptocurrencies.
The crypto version will include the same real-time profit and loss tracking and push notifications available in the existing beta. Users can disconnect an AI agent at any time, while trading permissions remain limited to funds allocated to the dedicated account.
The announcement follows Robinhood’s July 1 product rollout, which also introduced Robinhood Chain and additional blockchain services. Launching these products together suggests the company is building AI-powered investing alongside its expanding crypto infrastructure instead of treating them as separate initiatives.
Robinhood’s expansion comes as more crypto and fintech companies introduce AI-powered financial services. Coinbase launched Coinbase for Agents in June, enabling selected AI-assisted crypto payments and transactions, adding to competition in the emerging market for AI-driven financial tools.
Robinhood has also acknowledged the limits of the technology. The company said AI agents can misinterpret instructions or rely on inaccurate information, leaving customers responsible for every trade executed through their accounts.
The disclosure also comes as Democratic members of the US House Financial Services Committee seek answers from the Securities and Exchange Commission on AI-assisted trading. In June, Representatives Bill Foster and Brad Sherman asked the SEC to address liability, oversight, and the risk that AI models trained on similar data could amplify market volatility.
