XRP (XRP) is struggling to convert Ripple’s growing list of institutional relationships into sustained price momentum, highlighting a persistent gap between ecosystem adoption and token demand.
Grayscale drew attention to Ripple’s work with Mastercard, JPMorgan, OKX, and Ondo Finance across payments, liquidity, settlement, and asset tokenization. The collaborations strengthen Ripple’s position within institutional finance, but XRP continues to trade near $1.10 after repeatedly failing to establish a clear breakout.
The token briefly advanced to around $1.13 on July 21, supported by improving macroeconomic sentiment and rising trading activity. However, XRP remains trapped below several technical barriers, while cooling exchange-traded fund (ETF) flows and broader capital rotation limit its upside.
One of the most significant initiatives highlighted by Grayscale involved a pilot using the XRP Ledger (XRPL) for near-real-time cross-border settlement of tokenized US Treasurys. The project indicates that Ripple’s infrastructure is attracting interest for practical applications beyond conventional crypto trading.
Grayscale’s discussion with Ripple senior vice president of stablecoins Jack McDonald also addressed the company’s institutional expansion, adoption of its RLUSD stablecoin, and XRP’s potential role across the ecosystem.

Nevertheless, partnerships involving Ripple or the XRP Ledger do not automatically create proportional demand for XRP. Institutions can use specific elements of Ripple’s infrastructure without accumulating substantial token positions.
XRP’s speed also limits the need for users to hold it for long periods. High transaction velocity allows the same tokens to support repeated settlements, potentially reducing the scarcity effect that investors expect from growing payment activity.
Circulating supply and Ripple’s escrow holdings represent another perceived overhang. Meanwhile, speculative capital frequently rotates toward assets offering stronger short-term volatility, leaving XRP dependent on broader market liquidity and institutional flows.
CoinGlass fund data showed about $7.5 million in net XRP outflows, suggesting that institutional demand has weakened after earlier inflows. The decline came as capital moved away from some large-cap crypto assets, leaving XRP more exposed to movements in Bitcoin (BTC) and the wider market.
The technical structure remains fragile. XRP has been trading within a descending daily channel, while its 100-day and 200-day moving averages (MAs) remain above the price and slope downward.

In the short term, the $1.10-$1.12 area represents the first obstacle. A stronger resistance zone sits around $1.16-$1.18, where a descending trendline has repeatedly capped recovery attempts.
A breakout above that region could open the way toward $1.24-$1.29. Until then, rebounds risk becoming opportunities for sellers to re-enter.
On the downside, support near $1.08 remains important, followed by the broader $1.02-$1.06 demand zone. Losing that area would weaken the structure and potentially expose $0.88-$0.92.
The next ecosystem catalyst could come from the XRP Ledger’s proposed upgrade package, which includes batch transactions, confidential transfers, sponsored fees, and permission delegation.
These features could make XRPL more attractive to institutions and developers by improving transaction efficiency, privacy, and account flexibility. Additional fixes are also expected to improve node performance and network reliability.

You can clearly see why I want this sweep when you look at these charts. It's not that I want prices to go down or that I'm flipping bearish at these levels.

However, technical upgrades rarely produce immediate price gains without corresponding growth in users, transaction volumes, and capital inflows. XRP may therefore need evidence that Ripple’s partnerships and XRPL improvements are generating direct token demand.
For now, XRP’s fundamentals appear stronger than its chart. A decisive move above $1.18 would begin to narrow that disconnect, while a loss of $1.02 would confirm that sellers remain firmly in control.
