XRP is approaching a decisive technical moment as its price struggles to defend the psychologically important $1 level, even as Ripple expands the institutional infrastructure surrounding the XRP Ledger.
The token was trading near $1.06 on Tuesday, down roughly 1.5%, amid broader weakness across the cryptocurrency market.
XRP’s short-term chart remains bearish, creating a sharp contrast with Ripple’s growing ambitions in tokenized capital markets.
XRP broke below a symmetrical triangle formed during July, suggesting sellers have regained control. The token is also trading beneath its major exponential moving averages, reinforcing the view that recent rebounds have been corrective rather than the beginning of a durable recovery.
The 50-day EMA near $1.12 represents the first meaningful obstacle. Beyond that, XRP faces additional resistance around the 100-day EMA at $1.20 and the previous horizontal barrier at $1.30.

I originally believed $2.00 would hold as macro support. The market had other plans.
Now, $XRP has lost the 50 MA and is approaching the 100 EMA, a level that has historically provided strong long-term support.… pic.twitter.com/KCl3AsBcTa

Momentum indicators offer little evidence of an immediate reversal. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains near 45, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence line is marginally below zero. Subdued trading volume further points to weak conviction among potential buyers.
XRP’s immediate support sits between $1.00 and $1.04. Holding this area could allow the token to consolidate and attempt another move toward $1.12. However, a decisive break below $1 could accelerate losses toward approximately $0.89.
The bearish chart comes as Ripple strengthens its position in tokenized finance through strategic investments in ZILO and Licuido.
ZILO provides regulated transfer-agent and fund-administration technology, including infrastructure for tokenized share classes. Licuido specializes in digital issuance, distribution, execution and collateral mobility, helping tokenized assets move through on-chain markets.
Deepening our push into capital markets, we are investing in ZILO and Licuido to add regulated transfer agency, issuance and collateral mobility to our capital markets infrastructure built on the XRPL. This comes on the heels of Aviva Investors tokenising its US Dollar Liquidity…

Ripple’s strategy extends beyond placing conventional assets on a blockchain. The company is developing infrastructure covering issuance, custody, multi-currency investing, collateral utility and atomic settlement. RLUSD can serve as the regulated cash component in delivery-versus-payment transactions.
The investments build on Ripple’s work with Aviva Investors, alongside existing institutional relationships involving Franklin Templeton and DBS.
Ripple’s expansion strengthens the long-term utility argument for XRPL, but it does not guarantee immediate demand for XRP.
Tokenization activity and token-price performance can move independently, particularly during risk-off market conditions.

Near-term direction will therefore remain driven mainly by technical levels and broader sentiment. Bitcoin reclaiming $64,000 could improve conditions, while developments surrounding the CLARITY Act and the XRPL v3.3.0 upgrade may provide additional catalysts.
For now, XRP’s institutional narrative is improving faster than its chart. Unless buyers defend $1 and reclaim $1.12, the risk of another breakdown remains elevated.
