XRP (XRP) remains under significant pressure after failing to sustain an early-week recovery, with the token slipping back below the crucial $1.20 level.
The rejection near $1.28 has reinforced bearish sentiment, while weakening derivatives activity and muted institutional demand suggest traders remain cautious about XRP’s near-term outlook.
Although optimism surrounding a potential BlackRock XRP ETF and broader institutional adoption continues to circulate, current market dynamics indicate that sellers still maintain firm control. Unless XRP can reclaim key resistance levels, the risk of a deeper correction toward June lows around $1.05 appears to be increasing.
The broader cryptocurrency market has come under renewed pressure following the Federal Reserve’s latest policy signals. Investors reacted negatively to indications that interest rates could remain elevated for longer, with policymakers emphasizing their commitment to returning inflation to the long-term 2% target.
The possibility of another rate hike in 2026 has reintroduced uncertainty into financial markets, prompting investors to reduce exposure to risk assets.

Cryptocurrencies, which had recently benefited from improving geopolitical sentiment following the easing of tensions between the US and Iran, have subsequently surrendered a portion of those gains.
Risk aversion is also reflected in the Crypto Fear & Greed Index, which has fallen deeper into “extreme fear” territory. Such readings typically indicate reduced investor confidence and a preference for defensive positioning, creating a challenging environment for assets like XRP.
One of the more concerning developments for XRP bulls is the slowdown in institutional participation.
Spot XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded no inflows during the latest trading session after attracting modest interest earlier in the week. While inflows of approximately $3 million on Monday and $5 million on Tuesday suggested some institutional engagement, the lack of follow-through highlights the fragility of current demand.

Derivatives markets tell a similar story. XRP futures open interest declined from $2.79 billion to $2.66 billion, signaling that traders are reducing exposure rather than adding new positions. Falling open interest alongside declining prices is often interpreted as a sign that market participants are closing positions and stepping away from risk.

This reduction in speculative activity weakens the foundation for any meaningful recovery attempt and increases the likelihood of additional downside pressure in the short term.
From a technical perspective, XRP continues to trade below several critical trend indicators.
The token remains trapped beneath its 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) at $1.27, its 100-day EMA near $1.37, and its 200-day EMA around $1.58.
These moving averages now represent a layered resistance zone that bulls must overcome before a sustainable recovery can develop.

The inability to reclaim the 50-day EMA after the recent rally attempt reinforces the bearish structure and suggests sellers are actively defending higher levels.
While the moving average convergence/divergence (MACD) indicator hints that downside momentum may be stabilizing rather than accelerating, it has not yet generated a convincing bullish reversal signal.
Despite current weakness, XRP retains a potentially bullish long-term narrative. Recent speculation surrounding a possible BlackRock XRP ETF has reignited investor interest, even though BlackRock has publicly denied any active plans for such a product.
At the same time, proponents point to growing institutional use cases for XRP, including tokenization initiatives and real-time settlement infrastructure being explored by organizations such as SWIFT and Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation. If these developments translate into tangible adoption, they could provide a meaningful catalyst for future price appreciation.
However, these narratives remain largely speculative for now and have yet to materially impact XRP’s current market structure.
For the immediate outlook, XRP’s technical positioning remains fragile. Initial support sits near the Parabolic SAR level around $1.08. A decisive daily close below this zone would likely trigger another wave of selling pressure.
Should that occur, traders may begin targeting the June lows near $1.05, which now represent one of the most important support levels on the chart.

Conversely, XRP would need to reclaim the 50-day EMA at $1.27 to reduce bearish pressure and begin rebuilding momentum.
Until then, the balance of risks remains tilted to the downside as weakening demand, cautious sentiment, and strong overhead resistance continue to weigh on price action.
