Points of Focus

  • Solana rebounded toward $104 as US spot ETFs drew $6.4 million.
  • BSOL and GSOL reversed the prior day’s $6.1 million outflow.
  • Solana plans a 3.3x transaction-size increase, with mainnet activation still pending.

Solana (SOL) rebounded toward $104 and was trading at $103.60 at the time of writing, up about 2.7% over 24 hours.

The move came as US spot Solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs) returned to net inflows one day after an 11-session inflow streak ended, while attention also turned to a pending network upgrade that will expand transaction capacity.

Solana ETF inflows return after one-day reversal

US spot Solana ETFs recorded $6.4 million in net inflows on Sept. 3, according to Farside data, reversing the $6.1-million outflow recorded a day earlier. Bitwise’s BSOL attracted $2 million, while Grayscale’s GSOL contributed $4.4 million. The other tracked funds recorded no net flows.

The Sept. 2 outflow had ended an 11-session inflow streak. The return to positive flows means that session has so far remained an isolated reversal rather than the start of sustained ETF withdrawals. Still, the latest $6.4-million intake was far below the $56.1 million recorded on Aug. 27.

Derivatives remain a large part of short-term SOL trading. CoinGlass showed $6.44 billion in open interest, $9.27 billion in 24-hour futures turnover, and $1.02 billion in spot volume. Around $14.3 million in SOL futures positions were liquidated over the same period. Futures turnover was roughly nine times spot volume, showing that derivatives activity remains much larger than spot trading during the rebound.

Solana upgrade raises transaction size 3.3x

Solana is also preparing to raise its maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. Solana said the 3.3x increase will allow zero-knowledge proofs, large multisigs, and batched operations to fit inside one transaction instead of being split across several.

The change is delivered through Solana’s v1 transaction format and targets Agave v4.2 for mainnet activation. Testnet and devnet have already activated the feature, while mainnet remains inactive. Anza’s schedule shows general v4.2 feature activations began on mainnet-beta on Aug. 18, but Solana still describes the larger-transaction activation schedule as tentative.

SolanaFloor posted on X during the rebound that SOL had reached $104, up 5.37% in its market snapshot. The same post showed more than $370 million in broader crypto short liquidations, suggesting part of SOL’s advance came alongside a market-wide squeeze rather than from Solana-specific demand alone.

SOL now trades with ETF flows back in positive territory, while CoinGlass shows $6.44 billion in open interest against $1.02 billion in daily spot turnover.
