Points of Focus
- SOL trades near $102.97, about 6.5% below its recent $110.17 high.
- Futures open interest holds near $7 billion, leaving leverage elevated.
- US spot Solana ETFs drew $18.08 million on Aug. 28 despite the pullback.
Solana (SOL) traded near $102.97 at the time of writing, leaving the token about 6.5% below its recent high of $110.17. SOL has recovered from a weekend dip toward $100, while futures open interest remains close to $7 billion despite the rebound.

Solana open interest holds above $7 billion
SOL futures open interest stood near $7.00 billion, showing that a large amount of derivatives exposure remains open even with SOL still below $110. Open interest counts outstanding futures positions and doesn’t show whether traders are net bullish or bearish, but the level indicates leverage hasn’t materially unwound.
Trading activity also remains heavily weighted toward derivatives. SOL futures volume was about $5.38 billion over 24 hours, compared with roughly $567 million in spot volume, putting futures turnover at about 9.5 times spot activity.

The comparison doesn’t mean futures traders control every price move, but it shows how large leveraged activity is relative to spot trading. With SOL still roughly $7 below its recent high and open interest near $7 billion, a substantial pool of futures positions remains exposed to further price swings.
Solana ETF inflows counter derivatives pressure
US spot Solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $18.08 million in net inflows on Aug. 28 after taking in $60.91 million a day earlier. Bitwise’s BSOL led Friday’s intake with $11.2 million, while Grayscale’s GSOL added $3.53 million.

Those inflows arrived as SOL pulled back from $110, showing that ETF demand didn’t disappear with the price decline. The two sessions brought nearly $79 million into the funds even as SOL gave back part of its earlier rally.
ETF demand remains small compared with derivatives turnover on a daily basis. Friday’s $18.08-million ETF inflow was a fraction of the billions traded through SOL futures, so ETF flows alone offer limited evidence about short-term price direction.
US spot Solana ETFs held about $1.43 billion in net assets and roughly $1.35 billion in cumulative net inflows through Aug. 28.
