Robinhood has begun rolling out cryptocurrency trading to eligible customers in the UK, bringing more than 50 digital assets into its main investing app as the brokerage expands beyond its traditional equities business.
The service is being provided through Bitstamp UK Ltd, the crypto exchange business Robinhood acquired as part of its $200 million Bitstamp deal. The offering includes Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), XRP and Hyperliquid’s HYPE.
Robinhood is launching the service with no trading, custody or account maintenance fees. However, customers will face a 0.1% foreign exchange fee, rising to 0.3% for certain weekend conversions.

The move delivers on Robinhood’s July announcement that cryptocurrency trading was coming to the UK as part of a wider international expansion. At the time, the company described its goal as building an all-in-one investing platform for British customers.
Bitstamp Becomes Robinhood’s Route Into UK Crypto
Bitstamp is central to that strategy.
Robinhood completed its acquisition of the exchange in June 2025, gaining an established crypto operation serving retail and institutional customers across the UK, EU, US and Asia.
At completion, Robinhood said Bitstamp held more than 50 active licenses and registrations globally, giving the brokerage an existing regulatory and operational footprint for international crypto expansion.
That infrastructure now allows Robinhood to put crypto alongside the products already offered through its UK platform, including US equities, stocks and shares ISAs, options and futures.
There is an important distinction for consumers, however. Crypto services through Bitstamp UK are not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme or Financial Ombudsman Service, according to Robinhood’s disclosure.
The launch also arrives ahead of a significant change in British crypto regulation. The FCA’s new cryptoasset regulatory regime is scheduled to start on Oct. 25, 2027. Until then, firms providing certain UK crypto services remain subject to existing registration and financial-promotion requirements.
Robinhood Adds AI to Its Crypto Push
UK customers will also gain access to Cortex Digests for Crypto, Robinhood’s generative AI feature designed to combine news, market data, technical indicators and company insights into explanations of individual asset price moves.
AI is becoming a larger part of Robinhood’s product strategy. Cortex tools had already been used by nearly one million customers by the first quarter, while the company has separately announced plans for AI agents capable of scanning crypto markets and executing strategies under user-defined controls.
The UK rollout therefore extends beyond simply adding another crypto trading venue. It connects Bitstamp’s exchange infrastructure with Robinhood’s brokerage interface and AI products.
Crypto Expansion Comes as Trading Revenue Cools
The timing is notable because Robinhood’s crypto business has been expanding operationally even as trading revenue has faced pressure.
In the first quarter, Robinhood reported $66 billion in crypto notional volume, including $42 billion from Bitstamp, although Robinhood-app crypto revenue fell 47% year over year to $134 million.
The company is simultaneously pushing deeper into onchain finance. Robinhood Chain, its Arbitrum-based Layer 2 designed for financial assets, had already processed more than 100 million transactions before its public mainnet launch, with Robinhood positioning the network for tokenized assets and DeFi applications.
The UK launch adds another piece to that strategy: using Bitstamp to bring conventional crypto trading directly inside the same platform where customers already manage traditional investments.
