Points of Focus
- Eric Trump says no new family crypto token is launching.
- TRUMP surged 38% as the unverified rumor spread.
- Trump-linked crypto ventures generated more than $1 billion.
Eric Trump has denied claims that the Trump family is preparing to launch another cryptocurrency, warning investors that anyone promoting such a token as an official family project is pushing a fraudulent scheme.
The denial came after an X account called WhaleScan claimed on Aug. 22 that President Donald Trump was preparing to launch a new coin. The post provided no official announcement, contract address or regulatory filing linking a new token to Trump or his family. Eric Trump responded publicly, calling the claim “absolutely not true” and saying no family member was launching a coin.
What a joke… This is absolutely not true. No one is launching any kind of coin. If anyone is suggesting otherwise, it’s a fraud. https://t.co/H0nWXNL8rn

The rumor nevertheless spilled into crypto markets. Existing Trump-linked tokens rallied as traders speculated that another official launch could be approaching, showing how quickly an unverified claim involving one of crypto’s most valuable political brands can move money.
TRUMP and MELANIA jumped as the rumor spread
OFFICIAL TRUMP (TRUMP) climbed as much as 38%, while MELANIA gained around 18% over 24 hours, according to market reporting following the rumor. Both subsequently experienced volatility as Eric Trump rejected the claims.
Speculation intensified after separate social-media posts pointed to activity involving a token referred to as WWW or “Truth Coin” on Robinhood Chain. Reports claimed a wallet had received hundreds of ETH and interacted with contracts connected to the token.
But the posts provided no verifiable evidence that the wallet belonged to Donald Trump, Eric Trump, the Trump Organization or another official Trump venture. No authenticated Trump account announced the project, and no official token contract was published.
That lack of evidence is particularly important in memecoin markets, where anyone can create a token using a public figure’s name or branding without permission.
Investors have reasons to take Trump token rumors seriously
The rumor gained traction partly because another Trump crypto launch would not be unprecedented.
The OFFICIAL TRUMP memecoin launched shortly before Trump’s January 2025 inauguration, followed by MELANIA. The family is also closely associated with World Liberty Financial, which operates the WLFI token and USD1 stablecoin.
Those businesses have turned crypto into a major source of income for the Trump family. Trump’s 2025 financial disclosure showed more than $1.4 billion in income from family crypto ventures, according to a Reuters analysis. Companies associated with Trump received nearly $800 million from World Liberty Financial, including more than $520 million from token sales and over $250 million from the sale of business interests.
That established footprint makes claims about another Trump token more believable to traders than a typical celebrity-token rumor.
The family’s crypto interests have also continued expanding. World Liberty Financial recently received conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for a national trust bank connected to its stablecoin operations. The Trump family holds a substantial economic interest in World Liberty Financial.
Fake Trump tokens remain a recurring investor risk
Unauthorized Trump-themed tokens have repeatedly appeared since the president became closely associated with crypto.
This creates a problem for traders trying to distinguish official launches from opportunistic tokens that can be created and promoted within minutes. A token can have an active smart contract, liquidity and millions of dollars of market capitalization without any involvement from the person whose name it uses.
The latest episode demonstrates the financial consequences. Existing Trump-related assets moved sharply even though the underlying claim contained no verified announcement.
Eric Trump’s warning provides a clearer standard for the latest rumor: there is currently no new Trump family coin launch. Any token marketed to investors on the basis that it is the family’s next official cryptocurrency lacks their authorization, according to his statement.
The episode also shows how the Trump family’s genuine crypto portfolio has created fertile ground for impersonation. With Trump-linked ventures generating more than $1 billion and official tokens already trading publicly, a false announcement no longer needs to sound implausible to attract traders.
