Points of Focus

  • Satoshi’s 1,096,361 BTC rose by $12.37 billion in estimated market value over 30 days as Bitcoin gained 17.5%.
  • The 251,311 BTC gap over Strategy’s 845,050 BTC is worth about $19.2 billion.
  • Satoshi ownership remains an onchain attribution based on the Patoshi Pattern, not cryptographic proof.

Satoshi Nakamoto’s attributed 1,096,361 BTC increased by about $12.37 billion in estimated market value over the past 30 days, reaching $82.99 billion, according to Arkham. The change came as Bitcoin rose 17.5% over the same period.

Bitcoin traded near $76,500 on Thursday. At that price, the same balance is worth about $83.9 billion. The difference from Arkham’s $82.99 billion figure reflects Bitcoin’s price movement since the post, not a change in the BTC balance attributed to Satoshi.

Satoshi Bitcoin Holdings Top Strategy by 251K BTC

Strategy’s Sept. 14 SEC filing showed 845,050 BTC as of Sept. 13, acquired for $63.73 billion at an average price of $75,412 per coin.

Satoshi’s attributed balance is 251,311 BTC larger, equal to nearly 30% of Strategy’s entire Bitcoin position. At roughly $76,500 per BTC, that difference alone is worth about $19.2 billion.

Strategy has also kept its Bitcoin balance unchanged for two consecutive reporting periods. The company bought or sold no BTC from Aug. 31 through Sept. 13. Its latest disclosed purchase came on Aug. 31, when Strategy reported buying 4,603 BTC for $369.7 million during the Aug. 24 to Aug. 30 period.

Patoshi Pattern Leaves Satoshi Estimate Unproven

Arkham built its Satoshi entity from roughly 22,000 early Bitcoin addresses identified through the Patoshi Pattern, a mining signature first documented by researcher Sergio Demian Lerner. Arkham says the cluster accounts for about 1.096 million BTC mined across roughly 22,000 early blocks.

The two balances come from different evidence. Strategy’s 845,050 BTC comes from company disclosures, while Arkham’s Satoshi balance depends on blockchain clustering. Lerner has said the link between Patoshi and Satoshi rests on historical evidence rather than mathematical proof.

Arkham’s $82.99 billion figure marks the attributed coins at market prices rather than documenting a personal portfolio or realized gain. Its Sept. 17 post put the balance at 1,096,361 BTC, while Strategy’s latest SEC filing confirms 845,050 BTC as of Sept. 13.
