Points of Focus
- Bitcoin trades at $81,778.22 after US spot Bitcoin ETFs posted just $6.2 million in weekly inflows.
- Friday’s $433 million inflow erased a $426.8-million deficit through Thursday.
- About $238 million in BTC shorts were liquidated Friday, while $83,000-$86,000 remains the next key supply zone.
Bitcoin (BTC) held above $81,000 on Monday, trading at $81,778.22 at the time of writing, even as US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded just $6.2 million in net inflows last week.
The small weekly total hides a sharp reversal. ETFs were down $426.8 million through Thursday before a $433-million Friday inflow flipped the week positive, showing that Bitcoin’s recovery came despite uneven ETF demand.

Bitcoin ETF flows hide a $433-million Friday reversal
ETF demand swung sharply from day to day. US spot funds took in $159.9 million on Monday, then lost $450.4 million on Tuesday and $295.9 million on Wednesday before adding $159.5 million on Thursday. Friday’s $433-million inflow was the strongest daily result since Sept. 3 and left the week barely positive.

Friday’s buying was also concentrated. Fidelity’s FBTC attracted $310.7 million, and BlackRock’s IBIT added $108.4 million, together accounting for about 97% of the session’s inflows. The two funds supplied nearly all the buying that rescued the week after US spot Bitcoin ETFs posted $462.7 million in outflows the week before.
Bitcoin $81,000 rebound also included a short squeeze
ETF flows were only part of the price move. Roughly $238 million of Bitcoin short positions were liquidated over 24 hours as BTC surged through $80,000 on Friday, according to CoinGlass figures. Forced closures added buy pressure as traders betting on lower prices exited leveraged positions.
The liquidation data also limits an ETF-only explanation for the rebound. Short covering can accelerate a rally, but it doesn’t represent recurring spot demand. Part of Friday’s advance therefore came from mechanical buying, while ETF demand remained volatile.
Bitcoin’s price faces $83,000-$86,000 supply zone
Glassnode identified $83,000-$86,000 as a major resistance band in recent research, with about 1.07 million BTC acquired within that range. A later market update placed the US spot Bitcoin ETF cost basis near $85,638, above Bitcoin’s current market price.
$BTC has reclaimed the True Market Mean.
That puts price back above a crucial level and back into a bullish regime.
Next major overhead is the corporate treasury cost basis around $80k and finally the ETF cost basis at $85k. pic.twitter.com/oySdiazgCE

Daan Crypto Trades pointed to a similar threshold in a Sept. 20 X post after Bitcoin closed a strong weekly candle. He said BTC still needs to break $83,000 to flip the weekly market structure bullish. That level sits at the lower edge of Glassnode’s resistance band.
$BTC Beautiful weekly candle.
Wick down to support, sweeping local liquidity into a engulfing of the previous week.
This needs to keep pushing here into the next week and break that $83K level to flip the weekly market structure to bullish. pic.twitter.com/M1CMyI4MCV

At $81,778.22, Bitcoin remains about 4.5% below the $85,638 US spot ETF cost basis.
