Points of Focus

  • Bitcoin briefly topped $81,000 as US spot ETFs drew $730.8 million on Sept. 3.
  • BlackRock led the inflows, but seven funds posted positive flows.
  • ETF demand supports the rebound, while derivatives and heavy supply between $83,000 and $86,000 may limit further gains.

Bitcoin (BTC) briefly reclaimed $81,000 before easing to $80,923.79 at the time of writing. The move coincided with $730.8 million in US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) inflows, the strongest daily total in nearly eight months, adding fresh institutional demand behind the rebound.

Bitcoin ETF inflows hit strongest level since January

US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $730.8 million in net inflows on Sept. 3, according to Farside data. That was the largest daily intake since Jan. 14, when the funds attracted $840.6 million, and a sharp reversal from the $236.5 million outflow on Sept. 1.

BlackRock’s IBIT absorbed $454 million, about 62% of the total. ARKB added $137.7 million, and Fidelity’s FBTC drew $74.4 million, while four other funds also posted inflows. Seven funds finished positive overall, showing that demand extended beyond BlackRock even as IBIT remained the main driver.

Derivatives also amplified the move. CoinGlass data showed $57.6 billion in Bitcoin open interest, $96.3 billion in 24-hour futures turnover, and $6.7 billion in spot volume. Around $270.8 million in Bitcoin futures positions were liquidated over the same period, showing that forced positioning remained part of the rally.

Bitcoin’s price faces $83,000-$86,000 supply test

Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe said on X that Bitcoin’s correction had ended and pointed to a new yearly high above $82,700, with $90,000 possible if momentum continues. That bullish view faces an immediate supply test.

Glassnode has identified $83,000-$86,000 as a dense long-term-holder supply zone, while dealer gamma turns negative near $82,300, a level that can increase hedging-driven volatility.

ETF inflows can help absorb that supply, but liquidity signals remain mixed. Onchain analyst Axel Adler Jr. said on X that the 30-day stablecoin exchange netflow turned positive after 113 days of outflows, then fell from $13.85 million on Sept. 1 to $6.85 million on Sept. 3.

That suggests exchange liquidity has improved from the prior outflow regime, but the latest reading does not show the same acceleration as ETF demand.

Bitcoin now faces its next major test just above current levels. Glassnode’s first long-term-holder supply zone begins at $83,000 and extends to $86,000.
